Come along to our fantastic Christmas event in South Chingford, we have a brass band and DJ, Father Christmas will be visiting and bringing presents for the children, we will have a raffle and the event ends with a countdown to the Christmas lights being switched on and a choir to sing us in to the festive season, starts at 2pm, all welcome! Saturday 1st December 2018 from 2pm.
The LoveSouthChingfordE4 team would like to thank everyone who came for the Christmas Switch-on on Saturday. Without your support it wouldn’t have been the amazing success it was.
We would also like to thank those who helped make it happen:
Rathbones card shop in Old Church Road for donating the balloons, blowing them up and putting them on sticks, ready to go! They also helped Santa getting some of his gifts sorted, so a massive Thank You to them!
The Rotary Club for providing Santa and being there all afternoon handing out books, balloons and chocolate to the children - the children’s faces made our day!
The Carpet Shop on Albert Crescent for giving Santa somewhere to change
Sainsbury's for donating copious amounts of mince pies
Aroma for heating the mulled wine when the stall we hired for the job malfunctioned
…And of course Iain Duncan Smith for stepping in to get the mulled wine heated up and serving it to the thirsty crowd
The amazing Harmony E4 Choir for their fantastic performance
The Kings Ford for lending us their ladders for Jan and Sylvia to decorate the trees on Albert Crescent
Ainslie Wood school for advertising our event
The Regeneration and Town Centres team at LBWF.
***And a special thank you to the children of Chase Lane primary school and nursery unit for their spectacular tree decorations, Well Done to all of you!***
We look forward to seeing you back again for 2018 Switch-on.

Shoppers will benefit from an early Christmas present while they shop for their nearest and dearest, as parking in all Waltham Forest Council car parks will be free for two hours at weekends and on Thursdays throughout December.
The free parking offer means residents and visitors will save money that can be put towards extra gifts for friends and family, and at the same provide... a real boost to the local economy. The two hours’ free parking will begin from the time of arrival – when the two hour period is up, parking will be charged at the normal rate.
Cllr Clyde Loakes, Deputy Leader and Member for the Environment, said: “Allowing shoppers to park free for a few hours is such a simple thing, but the benefits are huge. It means that people are more relaxed when they visit town centres – when they are not so rushed visitors are more likely to stop for a coffee or snack and spend a few extra pounds in one of our great local businesses.
“At this time of year, people are more likely to shop for gifts or larger, bulky items. Making it easier for them to pick up their presents is our way of spreading the festive cheer!”
There are ten Waltham Forest Council car parks across the borough that will be taking part in the parking offer. They are: Brandon Road, E17; Bedford Road, E17; Stanley Road, E10; High Street E17; Mission Grove, E17; Hall Lane, E4; Richmond Road, E4; Linford Road, E17; Church Lane, E11 and Town Hall Car Park, E17. You can get info on car park opening times and locations on the council website here.
